Started in Vienna, SoftwareQ opened its KL office in 2019 as a separate registered company — SoftwareQ Sdn Bhd sits alongside SoftwareQ GmbH in Austria. The work is pure engineering: designing how software is built, moving systems to Microsoft Azure, fixing old code that has become too slow or too expensive to maintain, and training client developers to do more themselves.
The firms that hire them tend to be in oil and gas, financial services, or large commercial businesses. They usually have a software problem that has been getting worse for years — systems bolted together, a cloud bill nobody can explain, or a development team that keeps hitting the same wall. One detail worth noting: the firm runs SoftwareQ Academy as a named product line, not a side offering.
The idea is that client developers should understand what is being built, not just wait for it. Founder Ali Tabatabaei has spoken at Malaysian enterprise cloud events, which puts the firm inside that conversation rather than outside it. Good fit for mid-size to large companies with serious engineering problems and a budget to match.
